When the Lord prayed that we may be one, he must have included our online world as well.

For some time now, the priests of this family of parishes – along with all the priests of the diocese and our bishop – have been considering how best to coordinate our communications in the parishes across the diocese. We also need to attend to the requirements of GDPR.

We are very aware of the call from the bishop to share resources, to build sustainable ways of ministry across the parishes in the light of falling budgets and to engage parishioners more in the mission of the Church locally.

Bringing this approach to our online presence will involve the following steps. We are asking the people across the six parishes who are involved in various ways to work with us on this in the coming weeks.

  1. One website. The family of parishes will have only one website, i.e. onefaith.ie Websites that serve only one parish will not be updated and will redirect users or feature a post directing people to www.onefaith.ie
  2. Social Media. Individual parishes with social media pages will close these and invite followers to follow a Family of Parishes profile which is based on the renamed and refocused Clonakilty Family of Parishes profiles.
People who contribute to their local parish profiles currently will be invited to be contributors to the renewed social media profiles where local news can be updated.
    The Instagram page is here.
  3. Live Streaming of Sunday Mass. We will retain the pattern of live streaming Sunday Masses only from the churches which have a Church Services facility, ie Clonakilty and Rosscarbery. These do not require people to manage them for each Mass and they are managed by independent providers. (Funerals may continue to be livestreamed by independent providers as arranged by funeral directors).

We are grateful to the people who began the livestreaming in many places during the COVID pandemic and for attending to it along the way.

There is a free email subscription service available on the onefaith.ie website which will help you to stay up to date with happenings in the six parishes.
