Mrs Maura Whelton, sacristan in Barryroe, has been awarded the papal bene merenti medal by his holiness, Pope Leo, for her services to church and community
The medal will be given to Maura by Bishop Fintan at the conclusion of 10am Sunday Mass at the Church of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, Barryroe on 19th April.
An informal reception will be held in the school hall across the road from the church after Mass to which all are cordially invited.
