Bidding Prayers
Prayer of the Faithful for the Second Sunday of Christmas
Introduction (by the Presider) Let us bring our prayers to God, who in Jesus was made flesh:
- That all men and women of goodwill may believe in God (be quiet for five seconds, then add...) Lord, hear us.
- That people of different faiths may work together for peace (be quiet for five seconds, then add...) Lord, hear us.
- That Christians may accept the mystery of Jesus, human and divine (be quiet for five seconds, then add...) Lord, hear us.
- That this New Year may bring peace to the Middle East (be quiet for five seconds, then add...) Lord, hear us.
- That refugees and homeless people may be protected from danger (be quiet for five seconds, then add...) Lord, hear us.
- That all of us may make a new start in this New Year (be quiet for five seconds, then add...) Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for all the dead: For the members of our communities who have died, (especially N & N), that the light of heaven may be theirs. Lord, hear us.
Conclusion (by the Presider)O God, you hear our every prayer: be with us now and always, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
